corbyz asked: favorite movie?
This has always been the hardest question for me. I don’t just have one honestly so here’s my top 5 in no particular order.
1. Enter The Dragon- My dad always put this one on when I was a kid and even now there’s so much that’s awesome about it. Instead of another cheap kung-fu movie, it feels like more of a celebration of Chinese culture, utilizing amazing scenery and well-coordinated fight scenes that actually look real, mostly because they really are hitting each other. Awesome.
2. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame- I never thought much of this movie when I was a kid, but now that I’m older I appreciate it a hell of a lot more. This movie is disturbing on many different levels and the themes of loneliness and absolute control in a Disney film really make this one stand out.
3. The Wrestler- I can’t say enough good things about this movie and if I did, it would take me all day. Just watch it. Please.
4. Life Is Beautiful- A romantic tragicomedy about the Holocaust that you’re supposed to take seriously at the same time because the main characters are Jewish. It is a lot better then it sounds.
5. Ed Wood- Not a big Tim Burton fan, but this movie is great regardless. It’s about one of the worst movie directors of all time and the terrible movies he produced (which I’ve actually seen and they aren’t that bad, they’re actually pretty funny). The thing about this film is that you can tell through the whole thing that even though he cannot produce a single film well, that Ed Wood is someone who loves movies and will do anything just to have the opportunity to make them. Watch itttttt.
